"abstract": "The p-adic approach to physics was nearly mainstream. Vladimirov and Volovich developed p-adic quantum mechanics in the 1980s. Freund and Witten connected p-adic string amplitudes to the adelic product formula in 1987. Dragovich extended p-adic methods to cosmology and the Standard Model. Yet by 2026, p-adic physics occupies a tenuous position — a mathematical curiosity with zero confirmed physical predictions, surviving in the margins of theoretical physics. This paper performs a systematic counterfactual analysis: what technology stacks would exist today if any of four historical forks had been taken? Four tiers are considered: Tier 1 (Vladimirov-Volovich receives sustained funding, 1988-2008), Tier 2 (Weil's adelic methods are recognized by physicists in 1968), Tier 3 (Boltzmann uses p-adic statistics in 1897), and Tier 4 (mathematics develops on ultrametric foundations from the start). Each tier produces a \"counterfactual technology stack\" — specific technologies, experiments, and industries that would exist under alternative histories. [...]",
