"abstract": "[We propose a unified framework — the Stratigraphy of Measurement — that reinterprets the history of number systems as a sequence of expanding distinction operations. Each era adds a new enclosure: marking (N), comparing ratios (Q), convergent sequences (R_comp), lossy projection to the continuum (R), imaginary enclosure (C), p-adic enclosure (Q_p), and simultaneous adelic enclosure (A). This stratigraphy reveals a crucial asymmetry: the step from constructive reals to classical reals is a lossy projection, not a distinction operation — the non-constructible reals are artifacts of projecting a multidimensional sheaf onto a single fiber. We identify the hidden assumption underlying this and all prior eras: the single human observer serving as the unparametrized origin of measurement (pentadactyly for base-10, heartbeat for time, egocentric frame for language). The Poisson summation formula emerges as the descent condition linking discrete and continuous contexts; the Gaussian function e^{-\\πx^2} is the unique global section invariant under Fourier duality — the universal shape of honest uncertainty. We forecast three future eras: Contextual Enclosure (sheaf of local number systems over measurement contexts, healing the lossy projection), Entropic Enclosure (entropic numbers where ignorance is a first-class citizen, the Gaussian as universal default), and Reflexive Enclosure (a 2-adele that internally models its own history of distinctions). We assess these candidates comparatively and find: Contextual Enclosure is the strongest near-term prospect, Entropic Enclosure a conditional successor, and Reflexive Enclosure a longer-horizon vision, with six dated, falsifiable predictions registered for post-hoc accountability. We connect this framework to the existing QNFO adelic physics program (ZBW as p-adic observable, Ostrowski-based QEC, Majorana zero modes as Bruhat-Tits fixed points) and to cross-domain consilience across physics, computer science, cognitive science, information theory, biology, and sociology. The keystone insight: the universe (ontology) has not changed, but our anthropocentric epistemic tools have and will continue to evolve — and the direction of that evolution is toward representations that are increasingly covariant under changes of observer.]",
